hey i have an st162 celica and the oil sump (i think) just cracked and the gearbox will need changing soonish. does anyone know if an st184 oil sump will fit on my car and also if the gearbox will because there is a st184 at the wreckers next to my work. also are the gear ratios any different in the 184 box apart from the top gear. does anyone know the model gearbox in both cars? thanks heaps.

I think the sump design on the ST184 5SFE is different to the 3SGE. and the gearbox will fit. but it wont work. because the flywheel on the 3SGE is smaller and the starter motor teeth wont reach. unless you bought the flywheel as well. and the starter motor is located in a different position and you would have to buy that too.

gearbox is pretty much the same but the final gear is bigger on the 184, the sumps are different, 5SFE has a larger stork.
