The bellhousing has been resized to make it narrower, allowing the input shaft to locate on the spigot bearing. If all this is still double dutch to you, do a search for info, and if you still can't find the info, ask in the tech and conversions section.

its only needed when using a fwd bell modified to be used on a RWD trans I believe.

Well obviously a 2s starter and 2s flywheel were designed to work with this housing. However the larger 3s flywheel will work with the 2s starter with little modification.
