4age Crank Thu, 20 January 2005 13:56 Go to next message
Me and my mate were pulling apart his 4age out of his stock twincam AE82. He has had problems with the crank keyway before, so when the motor started making noises again he must of assumed it was the keyway again. What we found was a completely different problem altogether. Pics below...

Anyone else seen a 4age crank snap in half? I definately never heard of this before.
N.B this is a 4age Bluetop, 3 rib bottom end.

camden huh?
would you mind if i cam over to have a look in the next few weeks (maybe weekend after next?) am curious to see just how much of it was cyclic, and what the crack starter was...

bloody nice effort tho! esp driving on it afterwards!!

you might want to get the block checked to see if the mains line up.. if journal 1 was misaligned, it could concentrate a rotating bending force on the second journal...
