T3 vs TRD short-shifter for t-50 box?

Hey peoples. Just wanted to hear everybody's opinion on these two short-shifters. As i understand it,
the T3 shifter decreases the throw by 55% while the TRD unit decreases it by 33% according to the T3 website.
Anyone tried either, or even better, both of these shifters and what did you think of each one? To me, 55%
reduction seems like a bit much but without having tried either one yet, i can't really make a proper judgement.
Any feedback would be great. Cheers.

I was chatting to a guy who runs a AE86 in improved production racing and he warned me not to run the T50 short shifters either because it causes gearbox damage.
He didn't go into why though.

well i suppose having a quick shifter will hurry the syncros along a bit faster... but i suspect in a race car it was caused more by racing changes... something syncros dont like much!

The TRD one can kill synchros because of the way it was designed. At higher speeds there is no vibration dampening and the stick moves around... A LOT. Ive even seen it wobbling around enough that it has popped out of gear. I would assume that it has synchro destroying power due to this design flaw and the repeated almost disengagement of the gear but leaving hte synchromesh in.
I have a C's shifter, which is nice and sharp without having the vibration problems inherent with the TRD one.

both shifters have a little elastomer dampener in the upper part of the shifter. Contained within the bulbous housing. The TRD one is made of a harder rubber than the others and therefore doesnt dampen the vibrations as much.

yep hes right,
c's > trd > t3
the trd vibrates like a bitch over 5000rpm
the c's are rare as hell
the syncros wear ebcuase of the requirement to shift gears faster
and they cant keep up, so they wear out.
anyone want to sell a c's to me?

so people would recommend C's, then TRD and lastly T3, is that correct? anyone know how much does C's short-shifter reduce the gear throw as well? cheers.

Anyone have a price comparison on these shifters?
Everyone has bagged the TRD for not having vibration dampening but whats wrong with the T3 shifter?

LOOK UP THE PRICES!!! They are all available online. Look at Greenline, T3 and ring up toyota to find out the prices of TRD quickshifts. It seriously isn't difficult.

thats strange all the issues you guys have with gearbox problems with short shifters, mines not a genuine TRD but is dimensionally a close copy yet I get no noise in the cabin or excessive vibration over X rpm as some others have stated in other threads, nor have I had any problems with wearing syncros, and this is after 3 years spirited driving. I diddnt even have a problem with the genuine TRD one in one of my old rally cars? "shrugs"

Likewise, my rough-as-guts one (no rubber in the gearstick, bronze bush on the bottom of the ball) doesn't have any issues either, the synchro's are stuffed because the box was 300000km old when I put it in!
