Hi,

You should go to Castle Towers at Castle Hill tomorrow. They've got their yearly "American Muscle Car" show on. The top level of the car park will be hosting Mustangs, Cobras, Chargers, Corvettes and all those great tough US cars. You may be able to speak to some dudes there, who own these beasts, and get an idea of costs, maintenance and all that jazz.

Hi,

I checked out the car show today. There were some wonderful cars there. Huge-ass V8's!!!!!

The early-70's Corvettes were nice, and the Mach-1's were jaw-dropping. But, the Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs were the absolute ducks-nuts.

There were quite a few cars that had "For Sale" signs. One was a 1967 Mustang, with a 289cu inch motor, left-hand drive, in lovely condition for $27,500.

I'd like to know how much the Shelby's would go for.

i think the original shelbys from the late 60s go for about 125,000 for the gt500, maybe less for the gt350. but you'd be struggling to find someone willing to part with such a rare classic.

you can get one built brand new for 90000 us dollars at www.uniqueperformance.com

thanks for that info river, but i couldnt make it there too have a look Sad

27g is a bit outa my price range, in some cases it works out to be cheaper to import one (found this out from my old boss, his importing a later model mustang with NAWS and already has a buyer thats gona end up making him about 8g richer Very Happy)

haha, a good condition genuine shelby would be easy over $100,000 US (probablly not, but they fuckin expensive)

River, would you know if the 289engine is the largest engine that the late 60's coupes came out with?
or did they also come with the 351 (?)

still cant find anywhere that has much info (havent realy had the chance to loook either)

Cheers
Chris

im pretty sure all the regular mustangs had 289s. the boss 302 and 429 obviously had bigger engines, and i think the mach 1 had a 351, but the run of the mill coupes, convertibles and fastback had 289s.

EDIT: actually, im not sure if thats right, so check this page out

Thanks for the sites willie
Just had a quick read of those sites, seams that the model im looking at (65 coupe) was made before they widened and lengthened the body (2" each way) to be able to fit the big blocks in Sad
But ive probably misread it Very Happy
