Hey again...
i've got a toyota corolla twin cam hatch 87 model...
i went to start it this morning and it wouldn't, i got home from work tonight and tried again and still not working...
i got my mate to push it and we got it started that way..
once its started, if i turn it off and leave it for 5 mins and restart it, its fine...
but a couple hours later and it doesn't start again...
it tries to turn over but just seem to want to click over that last bit to start the car....
any help or suggestions would be great
cheers
dave.

Your battery is probably toast.
Try starting the car with jumper leads... if that works then your battery is flat and or toast.

It could even be that the terminals need cleaning etc.
Can you get hold of a volt gauge? If so disconnect the battery after its been charged and hook the volt gauge to the battery read the volts (should be over 13v), let the battery sit for about 30 minutes or so, a good battery would normally read around 11-12v anything under 11v and its time for a battery.
If the battery stays at/around 12v you've most likely got a current drain somewhere like a power wire thats touching metal. Things like the clock, radio (not factory, but aftermarket that uses a memory for its settings)

I think your problem might be your alternator
follow towe_001's instruction on checking the voltage and you will know if your alternator is charging your battery.
most of the time you only need to change the alternator brush and a little bit of cleaning.
goodluck!
