There Rod Hatfield {spelling ?} kits for 308's so there would also be a kit on the market for 350 i guess . I diff place here in Melbourne has a fleet of 308 hiluxs with ford 9" diffs and xf front brakes running taxi rims with commodore dashes fitted to which there swear by being great for there work .

"marks 4X4 adapters" in dandenong VIC make adapters for just about anything into anything when it comes to 4WD's.
my old man just put a 454 big blocker into his 75 series land crusher, and he used their kit. this included engine mounts, flywheel, sandwich plate for bellhousing, and gauge and sensor adapters.
some small problems like they gave him the wrong oil pressure sender adapter ( small block instead of big block ), but the workmanship is very professional.
i can get phone number if you want it.
good luck with it,
lee.

Why a ford 9" ? A mate of mine had an '82 Chevy Hilux 4wd running on the standard Hilux diffs. And he never had a breakage.

why not put a 302 or a 351 windsor in it? WAY better motor than holden poo.
Rev much better, easier to work on, cheaper to buy parts for, and easier to get power out of. also rear dizzy on holden motors can pose a problem to cars not designed for one.

i dont know about a chev V8 in a hilux, but with my dads cruiser, the V of the big block meant that it sat a lot lower than the original 1FZFE, and there was already a slight 'relief' in the firewall that the back of the straight six's head sat against. the dizzy sits below this, with plenty of room for leads etc.

the Wide V of the 308 isnt ideal for a hilux either - itd be an asshole to work on. Also if you put a ford cleveland in this would be the case. Hence id spec a windsor.
Dont forget 308's are those Woful motors they used to put into kingswoods and toranas.

update on the hilux
we'v got the engine in we just ended up using a hk engine mount and made new chasie(sp) mounts
we cut the old gbox mount in half and the T400 sat right on top of it so that was the easiest part but we must of pulled the engine out 10 times befor we got it all in the right country
only thing left to do now is a radiator, tail shaft and the extractors...
ill see if i can get pics of the engine in the car in the next week or so

GOOD TO SEE SOME ONE IS DOING THIS I HAVE A 308 AT HOME AND I AM CONTINPLATING PUTING IT IN MY HILUX. FINDING INFO TO DO THE PROJECT IS EXTREAMLY HARD WHEN ITS A 4X2. 4X4 PARTS/KITS ARE APLENTY BUT WHEN DOING A CONVERSION TO 4X2 SO MANY PARTS ARE DIFFERENT. SEND ME SOME PHOTOS IF YOU CAN. WHAT DID YOU DO WITH YOUR BRAKES? IS YOURS 4X2 OR 4X4?

81LOWLUX ill see if i can get some pics for you i have to go have a knee reco tomorrow so ill try and get down to see how things are going next week
the enginge is only a baby 283ci or 4.6L (easy to engineer) and ill be serching for xf falcon front disc and calipers for stopping power
i also found some headers to fit it today of the shelf block huggers they have about 15-20 mm space from every think
and ill be using a v8 commodoor radiator with different end tanks and twin thermo fans to keep it cool
i also put the bonet back on today and it all fits under the bonet air filter has heaps of clearence and same with the radiator so you can say it was a good engine conversion for a hilux..
also if your thinking of puting a auto box under it i fited a T400 in the stock tunel...
and it a 2wd hilux

A bloke I know who is on performance forums is involved in a v8 swap into a 4 x 2 hi-lux. Best bet is to go to the forums and search for ratlux. Its a tad bit difference.
Its coping a big single turbo blow through carb setup. A bit different anyway Planning to be road registered also.
