Number 2 valve/cylinder, gone... Sun, 23 January 2005 00:55 Go to next message
yeah, happened yesterday...
was driving, and all of a sudden car died at lights.
car started up, but would die right away, i have to start it and keep the revs up.
car is running no gud at all..no power...
got the car home, called up nrma, said my 2nd valve, then cylinder or head is gone, can't remember what he said. but would most probably be the 2nd valve gone.
anyone had something like this happen? and if so, would you know an approx. price on what it would cost to fix.. thankx
oh yeah, car is ae82, 4age, as you can prolly read below

exactly what about cyl #2 is dead/wrong/damaged?
valve what? valve seal? valve seat? spark plug? ring? camshaft? injector?
before you start talking money you need to work out what it is you have to fix.

i'd suggest you save some money and do some investigation work:
compression check
visual inspection of spark plug
check EFI wiring and plug leads
check injectors (should make ticking sound if squirting
...
beore you then go to a mechanic and ask to be ripped off.

cheers, charles.
