4AGTE in new Zoom Wed, 23 October 2002 11:23 Go to next message
Boys and Girls,

For those that doubted the budget potential of the 4AGTE. See the new Zoom (#56)

In the backyard blitz section theres a KE25 running the series 2 (AFM/Twin Coil) 4AGZE minus the SuperCharger but with a T28.

The thing is bog stock internally, Uses a cutdown truck intercooler and Stock AFM ECU and throttle body with the only addition being a Malpassi Fuel regulator and RWD inlet manifold.

The best part is that it winds out 159Kw at the wheels on one measly bar of boost with some very healthy midrange snort. Not to mention how flat the AFR stays, albeit a bit rich (but some fuel regulator adjustment could help this though)

Also there would definately be some more grunt available by ditching that truck I/C (which in general dont flow the greatest)

My Smile grows ever wider Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

[Zoom, however where off in some of there details about the stock 4AGZE's specs.]

(Rex under peps login)

It says wheels in the article and the Dynosheet uses KPH as the X axis (speed) which seems right given that KPH is a function of driveline gearing rather than out right engine RPM.

yes was reading this article earlier this morning, am a little sure of the stock piston specs, big port inlet manifold, yet 8.5:1 comp pistons (which by the way are ceramic coated?)

if its an early type it'll be 8.0:1 comp, no ceramic coating, otherwise if later type it will be 8.9:1 with ceramic coating..

it does use the later type cas tho...

anyone?

Arrrr... mate i believe all 4agze's have got ceramic coated tops..
Only diff between s1 and 2/3 is s1 pistons are "Semi-Forged" and later pistons are "Forged"
Another thing to take note on.. That red mr2 in club which put out 200kw or whatever was using stock series 1 motor.

grega & anyone else who has pulled apart a 4AGZE:

What colour is the ceramic coating?

There are many internal designs with truck cores, some may not be too flash, but there are several that have excellent cooling properties and very minimal restriction. I dont know how much there would be to gain in this area.

If you want to take a look at the car just go to http://www.toymods.org.au/dyno_day_2.html, the car was at the second Toymods Dyno day. I believe it was still supercharged at this stage though. I'm pretty sure the owner was at Eastern Creek a while back when Rod and some other Toymods guys were out there for a run.

Gday
The truck intercooler that I run is not to bad, it only has 2 psi drop off boost across it.
I was at the dyno day 2 and it was still supercharged, its like a totally different car now that it is turboed.
I am currently fitting a Supra gear box and a commodore LSD diff with billet axles.
When that is in I will head up to Eastern creek and give it a go down the track. I have not had a good go down the strip yet as I broke an axle the first time I went to the drags.

Thanks mate.
Should be heading up to the drags in about 6 weeks,I am very keen to see what she can do. It should be somewere in the 12s.
As I can safely run my car at 19PSI on Avgas. The last atempt I had was a real shocker It was only on low boost and I bogged down on the line wich gave me a really slow 60foot time of 3 seconds. Next time will be different.
Hopfully see you there.
