vehicle evaluation

ok, my insurance policy has just finished...i could just renew it, but the market value they have placed on it (without my knowing) is only $12,250..which is maybe ok for a s/c aw11..but i'm not happy with that, plus i want my stereo insured to it's full, not $1500 cover (that would only pay for the eq)..
so, i am not going to renew it just yet, as the car is still in the shed, in bits , i am thinking of waiting til it is all finished, and then get it evaluated....
has anyone done this? and what is involved?
how does BOV's and different mod's and stuff go, when in some states they rekon BOV's are illegal (or some crap like that)..????
any help would be appreciated....

You didn't state which insurance company you're with but have you tried Torque Insurance yet? Don't have their number but it's in the phone book.
They only do comprehensive policies but they will insure modified vehicles. I've found so far that their quotes are reasonable & I'm sure you can agree with them on a set value for your car, no matter what mod's have been carried out.
That's my 2 cents worth. Cheers!

yeah, Torque is who i am with (or was), i've been with them for the past 3 years....
but they gave me certain limitations i am not really happy about, i had to insure it as a show car, so the limitations where that:
1. i could only drive it 2 times a week.(that sux)
2. theft cover excluded unless immobiliser is self arming (which it was).
3. please note policy limit on audio equipment claims is $1500. (and this one too)...
and i was told by my broker yeasterday that i need a evaluation if i want to insure it for more than market value $12,250..(which i do)...
