From Drive.com:
Lexus
In March, the third-generation GS sedan arrives with 3.0-litre V6 and 4.3 V8 engines. Prices start about $100,000. Late in the year a 2.5-litre IS250 goes on sale.
The new IS250 will be an interesting piece of gear. Wonder if it will be running a VVTi 1JZ-GE ?

Actually, now that I think more about it, my guess is they'll use the 1JZ-FSE direct injection economy head version.

I'm pretty sure the new IS will be running a V6.
It's going to be real hard to pass frontal collision pedestrian rules in some parts of the world with a straight six in the next few years.

| If that is the case then BMW is going to be in big trouble. As if Bangle wasn't enough.

The new laws coming in in Europe require a huge amount of empty space under the bonnet at the front. Along with a heap of other requirements about a pedestrian not being able to catch on the front edge of the bonnet as they go over it etc. I assume BMW have a fair grasp on the situation, but I'd expect to see very few "world cars" coming out in future with straight sixes.

Yet the good old SUVs or Four Wheel Drive Soccor mum cars, with abosultely no pedestrian safety at all, are becoming more and more popular. *shakes head* If they can get away with having bullbars that shatter your ribcage and a car so high it knocks you under it's wheels, why can't we have a sports car with an inline 6 in it?
At least our sports cars have sloping fronts that are low to the ground.

Just a counter argument to the above... why is the driver always blamed for the accident? Could easily be a stupid pedestrian who runs out in front of the car. They should place equal emphasis onto keeping people OFF the streets and not trying to blame people who drive on (and pay for!) the roads.

The new RWD 6's are V6's.
The 2.5L is the 1GR-FSE I think, and the 3.0L is the 2GR-FSE.
The new FWD 6's are also V6's.
There is a 3.0L version and a 208kW 3.5L version.
Can't remember the code at the moment though.

Well the obvious answer to this is it's not the drivers fault, but their car can still be made less dangerous to idiots.
However, life has some dangers in it. We'd be better of trying to reduce the amount of pollution that cars produce that we all suffer from, rather than just making the occasional accident less horrific. I'm all for ethanol as a petrol replacement.
