4age splutter issue.

This sounds stupid. I am stumped for this. Just posting to see if anyone can help me with this issue..
Car: AE82 Twincam Bluetop
Problem:
5 mins into a drive the car will cut at any rpm. 2000-5000 and jeck like a crazy fucker... Sometimes might stop/stall but if it doesn't it runs alright for the rest of the drive.
On a hot day especially. It has alot of trouble starting.
What i like to know:
What triggers the "Check" light on the ae82 twincam dash?
Is it my cold start injector?
Is my starter motor on the way out?
Do i need to get a complete injector clean?
Any help guys. I'm stuck and dont' want to go around buying parts i don't need. Anyone had this problem before?

Is the problem with the ignitor.
I also got issues starting the car sometimes. I know i got a dodgy starter. And my timing is a little out of whack. How much of an issue did u have starting the car with that faulty ignitor?

No takers???
I'm leaning towards a faulty ignitor+ coil.
But i'm still not sure weather its faulty or badly connected.
With record rainfall in vic i aint too keen on fixing it til it dries up or even stops raining.

Anyone?
Or would anyone like to second the high possibility of the faulty ignitor?

most likely an electrical part that fails when heated up.
is it happening more frequently and/or sooner?

Unexpectedly is more the point..
The other day i had huge issues starting the car.
One other morning it started first time.
Yesterday the check light came on about 20 minutes into a trip.
But it only "spluttered"
I figure it aint bad fuel.
I checked all my grounds e.t.c.
Checked my timimg.
Does anyone know how to find error codes or know the error codes according to the ae82 "check" light.
