Autogage 5" Tacho in RA2x dash

Howdy all,
just a question as i bought a 5" tacho the other day, has anyone installed one in the original tacho hole directly behind the steering wheel?
They seem simple enough to connect up, i just wana know if anyone has documented the install into an ra23/8 dash step-by-step..
I plan to have the tacho mounted where the standard tach sits.. once i rip it out...
the plan is to make it as easy to mount and as stable as possible, but with the face not too visible from outside the car...(e.g. if a cop stands by my drivers window..)which is why i thought gutting the tach-holder..
Just wondering if i will run into any problems removing the stocky tach, or should i just cut the whole right(tacho) side of the speedo/tach cluster thing and mount the new 5" tach on its own..
Thanks
Guy

Not a great pic but...

I basically had to cut the speedo/tacho in half as they are 1 unit or in the same casing.
Then I just made some brackets up to hold the tacho in. Ended up working quite well and being neat enough.

Thanks for the quick reply Joel, that looks sweet-as! heaps tidy..
did u have to cut or widen the surround piece that lines the tacho-hole in the dash? (if u understand my garble..hehe) if not it doesnt matter, just curious as it measures about 5" in diameter..
also like the look of your centre console trim in velour.. goes well with your seats..
im thinking of getting mine retrimmed, im sick of fake-leather-vinyl, gets so hot in summer!!
il let u guys know how it goes when i get around to installing it..
Cheers
