are all sprinter head units double DIN? from the two i got one has an after market tape deck and equiliser and the other one has a stock HU with radio on top and tape deck below it. what i wann know is what do people do when they upgrade? i was thinking some sort of 'pocket'like in most cars at the bottom and HU above it but i dont want it to look nasty. so what has everyone else got? and any pics if possible please.

Not all were released as double din, though you will be lucky to find a single din unit in OZ with the factory fitted little plastic pocket thing.

The NZ guys would have a heap. I have got one of the plastic pockets and it fits in the little clip things that go on either side of your head unit and then get bolted to the two pieces from the dash that go down to the floor/tunnel. No pictures I'm sorry.

I have heard (and would not be surprised)that the plastic pockets from several different Toyota models will fit such as AE82s and early supras etc. Most wrecking yards would probably give you one. Time to go hunting!

Considering a DIN is a standard size, I wouldn't be surprised if a few different model cars fit

Yeah, probably grab something from an old corona or something and you'd be able to stitch it in there with a bit of help from a soldering iron and maybe some glue. Either that, or you could make something a bit more interesting in place of that placky panel anyways.

I had the same problem when I went from the radio/tape & cd player in my corolla to a single unit. I was actually able to get the plastic pocket thingy from Toyota that's made to fit my car perfectly (fairly cheap too!). I'd say Sprinter parts are going to be a fair bit harder to come by and a fair bit more expensive too...

Maybe try for something out of an AE82? how do the interior bits & pieces compare to a Sprinter?

Every Toyota dealership in Australia has 100 of these pockets sitting out the back somewhere, next to 50 hundred series landcruiser bumper bars, and a pile of standard camry steel wheels.

All these are taken out of new cars........base model Hilux's don't have FM stereos, and camry's and corolla's have second DIN factorty options.
