Ok ive done a little search , but havent come up wif much positive. Is there a model mx83 that has the right crossmember 4 a 1 j swap ie u get the jzx81 mounts and rubbers and bolt it straight in and does the g/box auto mount line up.
Also whats the diff between the early and late mx83 crossmembers.
cheers

Late 91 onwards MX83 has the correct cross member fitted as standard that will allow the factory 1JZ /2JZ alloy mounts to match the MX83 Base.

Hmm, so the JZX81 crossmember IS slightly different to the late MX83 crossmember.
Do you reckon it would cause any problems if you used the late MX83 crossmember with the JZX81 mounts?

I recall people doing it? Or at least saying it can be done on a few occasions...

OK, to Fit my 2JZGTE into my 8/92 Cressida...
Factory Crossmember - (Came with car)
Factory MX83 Cressida Rubber mounts - ($70 each)
Factory JZX81 Chaser (ie, 1JZGTE) Alloy mounts (just under $250 NEW)
They all bolt straight up...

Cool
Just that looking at this picture, the JZX81 crossmember mounts are ever-so-slightly flatter.
Obviously doesn't pose a problem.

The facelift MX83 uses the SAME crossmember as the JZX81, even the toyota part number is the same. The earlier MX83 uses a different crossmember where the mounts sit on more of an angle.

Hi Dave,
From the mk3 supras the 7m and 1jz radiators were both 2 core, and virtually the same apart from the top/bottom tanks which were different on the 1jz due to the mount points for the hydraulic fan. I ended up with a cressida radiator in my ma70 which was the same 2 row radiator core as the supra one, and made a couple of mounts for the hydraulic fan.
Cheers,
Caelum

My JZX81 was (is) the hydraulic fan setup.
Moves lots of air. Makes the wiring more interesting, though

does the hydraulic fan control box get its temp reading from a seperate temp sender or off the ecu, and is the output 2 the solonoid on the pump a fixed varied or a pulse type signal, what happens if u apply a fixed voltage 2 the solonoid. ie fan speed
