i could only remember connecting one wire to the sender, the rest were on the guage.
1. +12v
2. ground/earth
3. signal(from sender unit)

i should have mentioned it was a splitfire electronic oil press guage. it was installed in a VR4. only one wire was connected to the oil pressure sender unit.

factory pressure 'switches' can have 1 or 2 wires, where the second is earth.
aftermarket (ie VDO) can have 1 2 or 3 wires.
they can be:
a) pressure switch, 1 wire, earth thru body.
b) pressure switch, 2 wire, independent earth.
c) pressure sensor, 1 wire, earth thru body.
d) pressure sensor, 2 wire, independent earth.
e) pressure sensor AND switch, 2 wire, earth thru body.
f) pressure sensor AND switch, 3 wire, independent earth.
so which is yours?
my VDO pressure sensor is a single wire type.
