last piston i bought was a 9.7:1 1MM oversized of $120 i think genuine. Just use 18r-c rings as above if its not going to be anything to special.

Try Panjay in Mona Vale - they stock lots of replacement type rings.
Perfect Seal operate out of Australian Precision Engine Parts in victoria (Trevor is the contact) is another option.

ACL make rings for it
when i rebuilt my 18r-GEU i bought some that suited a 6 cylinder toyota engine, cant remember now, if you go to www.acl.com.au and download their piston pdf catalouge you should be able to match up the size. but i think they may only work if you keep close to the standard size as you have to order the rings in an oversize to fit the pistons spot on

maybe my pistons were someting different, when i was building my engine the rings were a different thickness to the standard 18r-c ones. if you can get away with it dont replace the one of the timing chain tensioner slippers. i remember paying about $240 for a genuine toyota one. it the one the plunger pushes on.

When talking with Terry OBiernw on wednesday, he said he can re-make/locate those guides for 18RG engines. He's here on toymods and runs a shop called Road & Track at ipswich.

Um, sorry to hijack thread.. i wonder if Terry OBiern mite be able to source/make up some sets for toymodders... some sort of group purchase maybe for all the people wanting 18RG guides cheaper than genuine..

Back to the original question!!
Its my understanding that the ring sizes are different 18rc to 18rg. i think its the second compression ring thats different. it will also pay to keep in mind that the 18rg rev's alot harder than the 18rc and therefor cromemoly rings are the way to go...
i hope i havent missinformed you, good luck.

My 18rgeu pistons were 8.8.1. You will find that one or both rings are thinner than the 18rc's.
What I did was take the pistons and get them machined to suit a set of rings eg.18rc. for street use that will be fine.

Both the first and second compression rings are definitely thinner on the 18RG to the 18RC.
When I purchased new rings for my motor the 1st compression ring was chrome-moly and the second ring was cast. I had no problem getting standard rings, as for oversized rings I am not sure.
