Been having this problem for a few months now, everytime i go to accelerate standing still or driving my oil pressure light pops up and flickers, it mostly pops up in 1st and 2nd gears and occasionally 3rd whenever i go over 2grand, but really i dont see it in the other gears, i cant exactly work out whats going on as i check my oil and its reading full, but ive found im getting oil leaking from the dizzy where youve got the bolt to secure it, as its leaking down the side of my block. any ideas?
cheers

hey,
well sounds like when you are accelerating a lot,
ie 1st,2nd, occasionally 3rd it seems to drop, like
the oil is getting thrown back to the rear of the
sump, a gauge would be more helpful than the light - which comes on under real low pressure, not good i think
its like under 7 psi
with a gauge it will be easier to diagnose, id be
lookin at oil level, small leak somewhere, pump worn,
and then after maybe pickup partly blocked and other
stuff...

There is certainly not enough oil pressure at the distributor drive to cause the kind of pressure drop that you have described.
If the engine is old there is a good chance that the mesh that covers the oil pick up may be sludged up.
Before installing the larger sump I used to get some oil pressure drop (gauge reading, not idiot light) under full acceleration IF the oil level was down a bit (full acceleration = sub 12sec 1/4mile so reasonably quick acceleration).
Common to 2TG (and 3TG and 18RG) is for the oil to get stuck up in the head area (massif holding bay and pathetic drainage).

thanks for the input guys, as for leaks i dont have any apart from the one that comes out of the dizzy, the engine is not old as the bottom end is fairly new and i had put a new headgasket on it just a few months ago..
ill update you on this when i get a gauge hooked up.
thanks
