which toyotas have VAST igniters? Sat, 29 January 2005 22:15 Go to next message
Hey All,
Which 4AGE's (or 22RE, 22RTE, 4YE) came with VAST ignitors? was it just the early ones? or was it all except the GZE/20V?

for those that don't know what i'm talking about:

i need an ignitor that shapes the VR's AC into a square wave, send this to the ECU, then receives back a square wavw to set the timing, whilst dwell is internally controlled, and the limp home is the base timing.

Cya, Stewart

fwiw, the VAST ignitors connect directly to the dizzy (VR), and the ESA/others have the dizzy connecting to the ECU first, with no direct connection between the dizzy and ignitor.

Im pretty sure the Bigports all use VAST, as they only have 4 tooth wheels + 1, the smallports have 24tooth wheels which the signal goes back to the ECU first. As for other engines i dont know, that document says that the 22RE's have it but someone told me they were sure the 22RE's we got in aust didnt have ecu controled advance
