Oil smells like gasoline

Friends 7MGE cressida has oil that smells like gasoline, What is the cuase of this?
Oil gets changed then after a few months it smells like gasoline again. I theorised that it could be worn rings, dirty/leaky injector dripping fuel instead of squirting it. Or even from running rich on cold startups.
But i thought i'd ask the experts as to what might cuase this?
any idea's? I don't think it's worn rings, becuase it doesn't appear to burn oil or consume oil.

blowby, never thuoght of that one! thanx STR8 2.8
I'm not that familiar with blowby, but would that indicate the PCV valve isn't working or something along those lines? Surely oil like this can't be good in the long run? if it's from blowby, it shouldn't happen this quick after every oil change either should it? (dam i hate soundling like a newb, but i am when it comes to blowby)
thanx for the tip 4age :_)

blowby is gas that escapes past the pistons...
gas ALWAYS gets past, evemn if it's a small amount.. when pistons and rings wear, you get more blowby..
the PCV is there to extract the petrol fumes from the crank case, and if you get the oil hot enough for long enough on a long drive, you can keep the petrol content of your oil in control (or thats the theory)

AH HA! i think you've just nailed it for me oldcorollas, This cressida hasn't been driven all that much, it's done maybe a total of 5000k's in the past 2 years!!. Mostly short 15-30min drives 3-5 days per week and maybe 1 or two long drives within that 5000'kms.
So I'd say that's the cuase!
I'll suggest he change his oil and take more long drives (the nerd needs to get out more anyway)

yayyy
what i've found... since putting on the EFI...
now that my mixtures are not stinking rich, i have much much much less blowby. previously i was blowign a bit of smoke at higher rpm, and also blowing oil out of the rocker cover breather (needing a catch can), and i attributed this to worn rings/pistons..
now with the EFI, i don't have a catch can, no oil spits out, and i blow much less smoke.. and i have the PCV hooked up too..
i think i was washing oil off the bores, so the rings didn't seal as well, allowing more blowby, and also making it easier for any oil on the bores to be burnt off...
anyway
yeah, a few drives along the nearest motorway for an hour would do it good get the oil hot for a bit..
