SO can any one tell me:

What type of fuel fiter will i need? (or a url that deals with it) and also the possi of it? (i havent bothered to look yet as i only found out yesterday.

AND what battery can i get away with? the only one listed seams to be 90 odd any way which seams stupid seing as i got one for 50-60 for the crown i used to have!

OH and while i'm at is any one know of a good melb brake joint? cheap is better for her i think! Smile

Thanx

Being that new (guessing its a mid 90' model), the rotors probably dont need to be replaced (unless warped or grooved) they might just need to be machined which is $30 a disc. This is quite easy to do. Just unbolt the wheels and the calipers, and the disks should come off (unless there is a nut in the centre holding them to the hub)

u can probably get away with anything that will fit, dont get those cheapo ones though

just look in a parts book near the fuel filters in supercheap auto, it should be listed. to locate it just look for the fuel lines in the engine bay and follow them

Tried 3 joints today looking in their books an all they list is an oil filter!

The mech recons the disc are worn back to under size, so i might have to replace em. I don't know how to confirm or call it BS so i'll have to go with them! Confused so disk and pad change is easy enough?

Its a 98 with 120k on it so it doesn't suprise me too much.

www.rycofilters.com.au for fuel filter gives z621 for the 1.5L engine, and z479 for the 1.6L engine. About $20 or so.

The battery is more expensive than the old one because the car needs more cranking amps because of EFI. So $90 is about right. A cheap one will just die prematurely because it won't keep charge.

www.dba.com.au for the rotors gives DBA896 for the SE model and DBA891 for the SX model. They are $140 each or so at gimmecarparts.com.au so that makes about $280 plus about $50 for pads so $380 isn't too much more. Pads are DP1368/DB1368 for the 1.5L and DB1347 for the 1.6L. If you are not too mechanically minded, get someone else to put them all on for you as it's not something to go experimenting with, you'll need a torque wrench at the very least.

Try repco for your parts, their computer search is pretty good.

Do those prices above include fitting?
If so, its seems pretty fair prices too me.

Replacing a fuel filter can sometimes be a bitch.

Just make sure if they do go ahead with the work, that they don't do any more work without your authorisation.

Also, try RDA brakes, they are usually a shiteload cheaper than DBA.
