Hey guys i have a quick question and before it is mentioned i have searched but im thinking of putting 17s on my 23 i was just wondering wat is the widest rim i can go as well as it says they are 17x7 will they fit. Also i was wondering wat is the widest tyre i can can go front and back keep in mind that my car is also planning to be lowered.

Ok my car is fairly low, and i run 16 inch centerline rims with 205 tyres on the front and 225 on the back any wider and i would rub out either end. I have an adjustable panhard rod in the back and lipped guards and i have no rubbing issue, though you could prob get away with 235s on the back, though it really depends on your rim offset.

The biggest problem you will have is the front tyres rubbing on the spring seat. Offset and tyre choice will help this though. There are a few 22 running around with 235 under teh standard rear guards, however with the 17's the extra diameter may cause them to rub just forward or aft of the centre of the wheel arch.

I'm running 14x7 wheels with 205/60 tyres, and they only rub occasionally even with lowered suspension (eg hitting a bump during hard cornering). 17x7 will be no problem with suitably low profile tyres, depending on offset of course. 205/45x17 tyres will have a similar diameter to my 205/60*14 tyres.

So your saying that with 205x45x17 on the front they shouldnt hit the shock tower but only if i get them to be the correct offset corret cos thats the main worry i know i got more room to play with at the rear.

Yes that is correct. If you got the same offset as I have I can guarantee there will be no problems... unfortunately I don't know what the offset is.

I'm sure norbie knows best, but just from my experience, hitting on the ra23 spring mount is a bitch. Even when you move to a xt130 strut, the issue is still prevalent, and I have a 16 inch wheel. The only other thing that differs on my car is the tire is a 235, so it's far too wide for the front anyways

News to me hitting the spring mount, i got the 205 on the front and have never had that issue, though i did find when my toe was misaligned (read. FUCKED) i found that one wheel was rubbing the inner guard slightly, but apart from that never seen a problem, and when the alignment was done it fixed that. Though my rims are a 2 peice and what looks is that they have been welded to be the correct offset.

Yeah, but you got the right offset rims adam, that's why. plus yours are only 205. Mine are 235 which are admittedly way too wide, and are causing most of the problem.
