Headgasket problems with the 7MGTE. Once you blow your headgasket, change it, machine whatever you need to machine, and torque it down properly and you should be set.
And from what I heard from several people on the forums, the CT26's oil seals tend not to last as well. But no biggie there.

may i suggest, dont let the headgasket dramas deter you away from buying one of these. being the owner of one, i can certainly vouch for their ease to work on, how toughly built they are, and what a pleasure they are to drive.

Agreed with v8_ma61 there. But you asked what some of the problems could be with the ma70 and I told you. But also being an owner of a 7MGTE (not ma70 though), I can also vouch for the ease to work on and their absolute pleasure to drive.

Yeah Headgasket is really the only major problem with them, If you can sort that out (just get them headbolts torqued down to 68ft-72ft pounds) You shouldn't have any issues, Perhaps the cooling system for the rear cylinders is abit wanting, but otherwise very reliable.
Now on another note, i just drove my boss's commodore station wagon piece of shite, And it occured to me, it goes as nearly as well as my supra! what the fuck is going on here! a crappy holden/GM v6 auto providing simular acceleration as my turbo supra! DAM! something must be up with my 7MGTE becuase this doesn't add up. I guess It could be that the holden V6 does have abit of low down torque, but no revability which means limited top end power, Couldn't really go too hard on the commodore bieng in the city area.
Hmmm makes me relize upgrading to the 2.5 litre 1jz might be a bad move, better keep saving for the 2JZ in that case. (advanced apology for my offtopicness)

7M's are pretty reliable once the headgasket issue has been sorted, IF you keep it stock. As soon as you start modifying it and cranking up the boost, it can (and usually does) become a real issue unless you're willing to spend BIG $$$. And let's face it, who buys a turbo Supra these days to keep it stock?

Can you elaborate here Yian?
Why no biggie? Easy/cheap repair?

Well not sure about the ease/cheapness to repair. But if you wanted to find another CT26, there are replacements floating around for pretty decent prices.
