Ke20 Engine Options.

Hey,
I'm looking for some advice on engine conversions for my KE20.
My ideas are, a 12a or a 4AG, the KE10 with a turbo 5k in the latest issue of zoom looks cool too.... I have also thought of using a giant rubber band.
I would rather not use Any of the T series engines.
I'd like some feedback from anyone who has done any of these conversions or has any other Ideas.
Thanks

Nice man, um did you have to get an engineers certificate to get those seats in? and is the engine a tight fit? and whats it like performance wise? commie killer?
i am trying to get around 200kw@ the wheels to beat my friends soon to be supercharged 202 in his VC, it has some mild head work as well. but i am still undicided on wether to make a tuff as n/a banger or a turbo buger, what do you reckon?

hey boxh34d, i just think they are a bit out-dated, and if i was going to go somthing that old i would just do a turbo 5k setup so i don't have to change mounts or anything. any other idea's? and thanks for the feed back

NA 1.6 will be very nippy in your KE20.
200rwkw will be slow in your KE20... you will not get enough traction to use it... you would be better off going for a fat midrange torque motor, rather than a peaky one...
and by limiting the boost,. to sayy.. 6 or 8psi, you will have more than enough power and still be faster than most cars...
T motors are heavy, compared to K or A series..

If your talking to me, yes, the seats are engineerable (will have paper work/mode plate march 9th for motor and seats.
as for a tight fit, no, it fits nice.
performance wise, its great, im happy with it, goes great, loves to rev and hit the limiter 1/2/3 and forth.
T50 fits no worries, and using the exsiting gbox xmember.
and also, i dont think your gonna find a 4age xmember, your going to have to make, modify one. im using Vc 6cyl engine rubbers if thats any help.

i once saw a KE20 running a crammed in 289 V8...
yeah like i told you kebluey, vicroads has an engineer that you can call and ask for advice.
considering you will only be on your p's when you get the ke going i reckon just toughen the 3k thats is already in the car, or get a 5k so you don't have to change mounts etc.

Turbo 4A GTE seems to fit what you want to do the most. The 12A will be more work than you may first think.
As for 200rwkw - why would you want to use the T50?
I managed to run 13.0 on my stock internal 3T with computer, boost and intercooler (standard injectors).

I want to use the T50 because apparently they're easier to get in and the bolt strait up to a 4AG and I have also heard they are pretty stong, My next door neibour used to use a T50 behind a heavily modded 186 in a circuit kingsy.
But i realise that if i have that much power i will need a W55

Do you mean a 12A or a 12 rotor?

if a 12A is only just legal in NA form, then a 12rotor will have to be pretty small rotors
why is it people always ask "will it be harder than what i think"
if you have to ask that, then the answer is most likely yes..
go and have a look at the engine mounts and transmission tunnels in rotary cars. you will answer most of your questions in 5 mins.

If you go 12a or 13b you can use the rt104 corona 4spd gearbox with an adapter plate to suit rx4 bellhousing.Im doing a s5 13bt conversion in my 1200 ute that came factory with the 3k. Ill let you know after the weekend how i went with putting the rotor in and making the mounts. With only a few mods like exhaust ,boost you'll have around 160rwkw. 700kg
