if your modding an n/a engine though which in turn should be a crap load more expensive than modding a turbo one, i would assume cash wouldnt be so much of an issue..

werd
dont forget to add 2x exhaust manifolds, a set of 8 rather than 6 throttle bodies, 32 vs 24 buckets, springs, retainers and valves... *shudders*
and also, im not sure a decent ITB setup would sit properly under the hood with decent airflow. would need a rather unko (and $$) intake system...
so, the v8 is, as i prefer to say, a FUCKLOAD more exxy than a 6. that, and i can get 2jz bit without too much issue (and can source parts from other 6cyl engines)
on top of all that, though, i think 350hp is the upper limit of what id like to be putting through the box, diff and half shafts. if i went to 4L, we'd be looking at 450hp, and im not happy with that.
ed
PS - dont assume i have infite cash. youd be suprised the budget on which the 7m, and now the 2jz were/will be built

nathan - theres PLENTY of sins in it dude, im just not showing them off
but to be honest, for "dodgy bros painting services", im pretty happy, so i can live with the mistakes... except one - i need to respray under the bump strip on the passenger side with clear.
i used some stone guard, and on the passenger side, it came out WAT too coarse, and looks like SHITE - need to fill in the low points with gobs of clear paint to try and smoothe it out a little
2jz? just about to head out and buy a plenum right now
cheers

He has machined off the disc of the MS112 disc so that he can use the MA61 handbarke (unmodified) and slipped the JZA80 rear disc on top (the JZA80 handbrake drum ID is 190mm vs MA61 169mm)
Rear caliper is the std R33/Z32 twin piston caliper.

shucks, thanks
it seems really simple looking at it now, but it took almost an entire day, with much conversation between myself and baaacchhhyyyy to actually figure it out...
...but damn it works well. and no need for any handbrake modifications. no scratching, squealing, zero clearance issues. it all just goes together. and 308mm on the back is nothing to complain about

It also eliminates the need for the rear calipers to be spaced to fit the rotor width.
In hindsight, this would have also been my preferred option, but my conversion was already done.
Hopefully my handbrake works well enough .....

How does the disc go being spaced out further on the studs, I guess the disc doesn't normally sit tight on the studs anyway. Have you spoken to an engineer about it, I guess on one hand you have put the studs in bending but on the other you have more studs to take load.
Good work ED/bbaacchhyy. Nice to see people thinking outside the square.

the rotor now sits 8mm further out, but think about it... when braking - where is the braking torque transfered?: from the rotor, into the stud, into the wheel... then from the centreline of the wheel, back into the hub/chasis
there is no change in the relationship of the rotor to the wheel, thus the bending forces/shear on the studs is the same.
the problem lies in the distance of the wheel from the hub, but i think with 5 studs, good support around the studs between the wheel and the hub, and the hub centric ring, one would incounter minimal problems
