speedo cable on toyota!

The toyota townae van has had its speedo stop working. Im trying to locate the connection to the gearbox to check its screwed on properly- but I can't see it. Anyone know where it would be?
How much for a new cable?
Is it hard to replace - ie. get to the back of the dash etc?

if it is a 4age then the spedo cable will run to the gearbox behind the thermostat you sould see the cable comming through the gromet in the firewall. And yes id imagine it to be a fiddly thing to replace.

you could also check the other side that goes into the speedo.

true true but start with the gearbox side its the easiest to get to then check the the other side. If its not the cable its the instrument cluster.
