hey guys...
I'm rebuilding a hybrid 1G-GE this year and need information...
I need anything i can get, if anyone knows where theres a online manual, or where i can buy a manual for this motor, please let me know...
But in the meantime, examples of what im after is valve lift, torque settings, injector details, EVERYTHING lol.
Please please please someone help me, i cant find jack shit on the net, and no1 in NZ that i know of has a manual for it...
P.S, its a 1984 1G-GE from a GA61

There was a thread not too long ago about 1G-GTE torque settings.
By a hybrid 1g-ge, what are you planning on doing?
GA61's rock... only because JCMF and I have one!

well, im rebuilding it to make an "early version" of the 1G-GZE, but im doing it all my own way but i still need to know a shitload more than i do about the engine specs to be able to do it successfully...
and omg, whoever designed the 1g needs to be shot for the water pump... what a mission...
btw, heres a pic of my baby...

AFM on a 1G-GE... mine had a MAP setup!
The waterpump isnt that bad, you only have to remove almost everything from the front of the engine
What has made you go with the 1G-GZE idea?
Looks like she needs a coat or 3 of paint

well, everyone over here has a fascination for turbos, the charger is "out of date" shall we say... and im not a sheep, id rather build the power myself than copy something 100 people have already done (no offense to anyone that has done that of course)
yeah, before i got it its had a lot of work done on it to straiten the body up, only panels that arent dead strait are the doors...
from what i can figure, some of the 1g's went map in 1985, of course, i have the first of them which were just a 4age with 2 extra cyls lol.
And just for all who may be interested, i have already started and will keep doing it as i pull my spare engine apart, a "How-To" for the 1G-GE, what i have already is a coupla little problems i had with mine (parts probs) and also a step by step how to on changing the water pump for newbies

I had slight hell pulling together parts for my 1G-GTE... had to modify the water pump too, damn thing had strengthening ribs in the worst places!
My XX is a 1985 model I think, the last of the XX's

What did you have to modify about the water pump?

I think it was one of the ribs on the top side of it, we got the good ole angle grinder out and shaved off a bit of metal.
Without doing this, the timing belt covers would not fit at all.

Maybe this is too obvious a question, but why are you rebuilding a 1G-GE to make it an early version of the 1G-GZE ?
Can you not just buy a Gen 1 1G-ZE and bolt that in ?
Contact Grant on this forum to purchase a CD of great 1G info and check out his website, search for "Sixworks".

2 reasons...
first, i have a thing about putting forced induction on an n/a motor (yes i know its a strange fetish but now that we have established that im nuts...)
secondly, its not easy to find a 1ggze over here, let alone the cost to actually buy one, let alone finding on ewith a charger actually on it lol

Fair enough mate, whatever gets your piston's pumping !!!
While its hard these day's its not impossible to get a complete 1G-GZE here in Aust. I have one im my RA23 and an almost complete spare Gen 1 1G-GZE sitting in the garage as insurance while I sort out the bugs on the one in the car.
And you are right, cost would be the factor getting a complete motor to you.

The 1G is a tough motor, you should be alright. I am thinking about getting another 1G to slowly build up into something more impressive, that or i'll just go get a 2JZ-GTE or 1UZ-FE

Yeah, I bought the 1G CD from Grant at Sixworks. It contained both the English 1GGE and Jap 1GGZE/TE manuals. Think I paid $40 but was worth every bit.
