hey guys...
i saw in the tradingpost a 87 supra non turbo for round 5 grand..
i was thinking of picking it up and saving up for another yr and then putting a 2jz TT in it...
do you think its werth the time and money or would it just be better to save up more and buy the jza70 2.5 TT....
does anyone know how much it would cost to do the transplant?
thanks

buy one that has a 7mgte and wait till the 7mgte blows a head gasket, repair it with a hks metal item and do up the motor with a bigger turbo etc. Just as much potential as a 1jz.

Either buy this one and 1JZ it
or
JZA70
it will be less hassle unless u really want a 2JZ

if you just get ma70 and do MHG, it should be fine. check out www.supraforums.com and see what the US guys do with the 7m.

I recomend you get a JZA70 supra if you want to save money on a conversion to a 2jz.
When you get sick of/or motor blows in the JZA70 you can pretty much just get a 2jz engine with loom and you already have the car to put it into. Crossmember is there, Gearbox, bellhousing ready to bolt up to the 2jz. Just have to tackle the wiring and a few other bits and pieces.
I too want to convert my supra to a 2jz-gte.
Except i have an MA70, i'd have to buy the 1jz half cut, convert my car to a JZA70, and then get the 2JZ engine/loom. That's gonna cost a shitload :(- May aswell keep saving and sell the MA70 and buy JZA80 in that case.
