1GGTE = timing belt
New spark plugs, new leads, change oil and filter, flush out all old coolant grunge. Check for any other obvious problems that may need correcting.
Check rear main seal for any oil leakage that may be evident i.e. massive oil build up around it. Easier to replace this whilst out of car if it needs to be done (hopefully it's fine though).
SOme 1G owners may have some specifics that need attention on these engines??

When you do the timing belt, may as well do the front main and oil pump seal too.

check turbos for shaft play (hehe, shaft), water pump.
If you plan to re-do the loom (not splice into it near the firewall) it's a hell of a lot easier to do that when it's out of the car and you have room to reach into all the annoying little places.

Thrsut bearing is part of the gbox.
All W58 thrust bearings should be the same number.
