icon5.gif  To Sleeper or Not to Sleeper ? Sat, 26 October 2002 14:48 Go to next message
As the title suggests, should I leave my Celica in sleeper form or resprayed in 2 pak black with a ___ pearl, aluminium rice wing & polished supra rims... ?

I am talking for the sake of sleeperness.... i.e. i lurve the faces of people when they see my shitter fly off the M4 toll booths!! But I also lurve my car to look semi nice/rice !!!!

Decision decisions !! (and lack of $$$)

KEEP IT A SLEEPER!!!!!

Don't you get a bit sick of all the hours of cleaning & maintaining, & agonizing over every new little chip, & driving around in fear of being stacked into by every moron on the road in the lancer?

If I had joined Toymods before I got really stuck into my car, it would be alot different (maybe Smile ). I would have prolly started with something that doesn't have the incredible stand out good looks of an RA-23 and shoved in some boosted little motor that would have had it going like the clappers.

Spend the cash on some more performance modifications & accessories! Very Happy

Just paint it and stuff, but leave off the wing. That way it'll look nice, but still no one is going to expect it to blow them away. You want to polish the Supra rims anyway, thats not ricey, thats restoration.

I'd say go for a nice, straight, CLEAN looking sleeper. Just remember that a car doesn't have to look like a piece of shit for it to be a sleeper, just in the same sense that it doesn't have to look totally ricey in order to be show-ey. (if that last sentence makes any sense at all then my work here is done Razz ) Very Happy

Look, if its gonna be a sleeper, IT WILL BE A SHITTER... thats how I think of it !! hahaha

but yeh... if its got polished rims and a nice paint job, I have no doubt it WILL attract (unwanted) attention !

Seriously, how many older cars have nice paintjobs and nice wheels and dont get automatically assumed to be sleepers and get trouble from people and prying eyes (and hands !!!!!)

decisions decisions !!

But yeh, it would be nice to be able to park the car somewhere without a care that it will be scratched or missing when u come back !

JCMF... I dont know what WA is likem but in Sydney, you can turn your back on your car for 2 secs and it could be broken into or gone... Sad Just the way it is here.. but yeh, ur suggestion would be sweetass !

Les,
I know Sydney is obviously going to be different to Perth, but it can't be as bad as what you are saying. There are lots of nice cars on here like BigWorm's and stuff which just look clean (from what I can see in pics Razz ) but don't look over the top.

As long as you don't go crazy with the pearl in the paint, it is just going to look, not like a shitter you fixed up (as you put it) but someone who may have looked after their car a little better than the norm.
