will be fine.
If yours was a mr2 motor and was grey, that is interesting..
I have early model AE92, it is green,
mates late model AE92 was green, but i replaced it with a ae101 knock that was grey, and had a different plug.
Obviously works a treat as the car runs 10 times better with it fitted. The knock sensor is important as it runs in full ignition retard if its not connected as far as i can gather. Put the new sensor in, reset the ecu and enjoy the extra power.

Would the knock sensor not being connected generate a check engine error when on constant, rising boost like my ze does?
Any ideas why I may be getting this error, as the error doesn't come up at any other time and when I turn teh engine off and back on again the error disappears..

Hmmm, well I'll have to check it out then, can I just grab a replacement sensor from toyota?
Can it be from any 4age or does it have to be a ZE? Cause I still have my old 88kw 4age sitting in the garage..

Andrew, you'll have to get it from a ze as the ge doesnt have one. so i doubt you would be able to get one from toyota as the ze was not bought into aust? i would think that if it (the connector) wasnt connected to the k/s it would cause the check engine light to come on.

it's a real bastard to get to. it is under the inlet manifold just above the starter motor, if you have the car up on ramps (cant get to it from the top) put your hand up pass the exhaust and feel the block just above the starter. you will be really impressed if you need to replace it. :- you have to pull the blower out.( well thats the only way i could get it out). good luck.

hey ppl, i know this is an old post but its very relevant.
How interchangable are the 4agx series knock sensors?
Obviously they all thread in to the block, if you change the plugs over where necessary can you for instance use a 100kw knock sensor on an ae101ze?
Thanks in Advance

Thanks heaps for the info,
Im going to try and it off this week and put up the part number.
Also whoever created this post : it would be a great idea to edit the title to include the words 'knock sensor' so this info could be more easily located when doing a search
(i found it by accident)

when i replaced the head on mine i just ever so slightly tapped the knock sensor (dunno how cos it's in the gayest position) and i found that a 7MGTE one has the same plug, well at least the motor i pulled it off had the same one..only it had a full metal casing, with only a little bit of plastic..looked a little more robust..i couldn't care less if it was slightly different..the car ran fine with it..so i guess it worked ok?
