Hi,
If you change the tyres from the brand that came with the vehicle, then use the value recommended for the new tyres.

How heavy is your car? what size/profile are you tyres? how hard do you drive?
Anywhere between 32-40 psi for road car tyres is acceptable, but optimum depends on the answers to the questions asked above.
Ignore manufacturer recommendations for tyre pressures below 30psi, as they're for bowls-hat wearing Camry drivers who value ride comfort and . . . NOTHING ELSE ! ! !
-Remember the Ford Exploder experience with under-specc'd tyre pressures and radical de-lamination?

OK
I got a ae92 corolla sx
Tyres are 205/40s Falken Ziex ZE-512's
On 16 x 6.5inch rims.
It says something on the tyre
not to exceed more than 40psi
THen it says somewhere else that tyre seed beads not to exceed 50psi??? WTF are they?
Anyways does anyone have a similar setup to that? SHould I just go for something like 36psi on all 4 wheels?

Tuz & Geoff, I'd say 34-36psi. for you'ze both.
Tuz - your sidewalls should be stiff enough to happily run around 30psi if you crave a cushier ride, but I'd keep 'em at 34-36psi to keep the tyre wear even. Tyres also clear more water with higher pressure, as well as giving better fuel economy and giving more grip, as they distort less and keep a more consistant contact patch.
I have seen LOTS of tyres that've been run @ 26-28 psi around ~10km of corners, and the outer tread shoulder is completely gone, and some of the sidewall has been scrubbed off - yet the centre-inside of the tyre is pristine. - So I'm not messin' when I say not to run ANY passenger car tyres @28psi ! ! !
-I run all my car tyres at 38psi b.t.w. - primarily to get good feel for the contact patch through the steering and . . . MY ARSE !
