wtf is a stage 3 race cam?
you mean 3 stages above road? so it's around 310-320 deg?
how many stages does the cam grinder have?
what is the duration (both advertised and at 50 thou lift) and what is the lift at the valve.
32/36 has a 26mm choke, and is a shit choice for a 1.3L.. good choice for a 2L
what you need (without knowing anything more about your setup) is something with a small primary choke, sayy 21 (stock) to 24, and then a big secondary (say 27mm) and that wll be fine..
a weber 34DMS is good, as are a lot of other early 70's euro webers (fiat etc)
stock (not stok.. speeling is gud ) carby runs rich with bigger airflow.
if you put on twin webers you would have to choke them way way down.

I've got a pair of DCOE 40's on a biggish 3K, and they work very well. Aircleaner space is a BIG issue, and minor panel beating was required to fit 40mm thick filters.
Fuel economy is non existant.
I used to have twin 1-1/2 SU's on the same engine, and they were a good thing, too. (Webers are now better suited to what I require.) People shit can them, but I liked them. Good power and good economy.
I'm not a fan of down draft carbs. Each to their own. I know people who are quite happy with them, but the man above would know more about them than me.

i had my stock carby (with "high speed valve" removed) for a while, and it was not that bad. the weber had a lot more power, but chewed fuel like no tomorrow as it basically had no idle circuit, and i had to make it very rich since it ate one of the choke screws...
but think about this.
if you have a bigport.. intake goes from 30mm, down to 25mm (about that in ALL stock manifolds but some of the twin carb manifolds), then turns 90deg (and joins to 1x25mm runner for the early ones) then turns 90deg and opens into a large chamber below the carb..
this is not ideal..
EFI is always better and mine is running very well (7ke), but i think the 4KE setup could be made to work better in midrange.
as i keep telling ppl, the 32/36 is not ideal.. it has a primary choke that is suited to a 2L motor, not a 1.3.. 21-24mm is good.. just find any downdraught with that, and you are 3/4 the way there. downdraught is easy but far from ideal
for twins, SU's do sound like a good option.. webers are expensive, but good for top end. EFI is good for everywhere.
my ideal setup would be 35mm ITB's with EFI...

The hard part about SU's is getting hold of a manifold. They are seriously rare. I got mine out of Sydney. No, I won't sell it.

There is a Lynx manifold for twin SUs on K heads. I've got one on the bench with a pair of HS4s on it. Someday it may find its way into my KE26... need to sort out linkages first.
