Every car I have seen has had a hardline going from the Master Cyl to the chassis near the gbox.
And then a softline from that to the slave.

Hard line + soft line = best IMO.
If you have a hard line all of the way it *should* break over time due to movement of the engine and box without an adequate material to absorb the movement.

Hmm, my 22 has a hard line going from the MC, then into a short length of soft line before going into a hard line again to go to the slave cylinder...

im also curious about this, having just put a 1g into my ra28, the slave is on the opposite side to standard.
what to do??
do i bend up a new pipe to the chasis near the slave and the hose to the slave or can i run hose straight from the MC to SC??

Just go for a flex line all the way. Hoses have come a long way since 197x so you'll have no problem.
