Hey Guy,
When I got the car I had a secondhand trans put in it and it's been driving fine until a couple of weeks ago. The trans is slipping sometimes on takeoff and between 1st and 2nd. I've also noticed a leak and the car has lost power due to the slipping.
For it's age it has next to no rust. The worst section was on the rear right quarter panel on the wheel arch, I have removed the rust and used rust inhibitor and a small amount of bog. I have have not resprayed any parts of the car. Any other small parts of rust I have painted with clear rust inhibitor. This is what I meant as half repaired. No the hatch is not rusty. There has been some repairs done to the inside of the boot lip.
I have replaced dizzy cap, rotor, points, plugs, leads, fuel filter, air filter, battery leads, radiator cap, thermostat, rocker cover gasket, door locks to solex copies.
4 good tyres on celica supra rims and also have stock rims (no tyres)
Rego till 6th april 05.
Car is started and run every couple of days but as i am year 12 student i don't really have the $$$ to fix the trans so will be using public transport for a while until i can afford another car. Engine runs strong and doesn't blow smoke, not sure how many K's it's done but previous owner suggested around the 160,000 mark. It is one of the better RA40's going around and would be perfect for the right person as a restoration project.
As a ballpark I am looking at around $850.00
I live in Banksia Park (North East) and if interested you are welcome to arrange a time to come and have a look
