Can Timing cause BHG? Sat, 05 February 2005 01:09 Go to next message
Hey All,

Can adjusting the car's timing cause BHG? That is what my mechanic was blaming me a few months ago... Is it possible? I know about the knocking noise is "bad" but all I did was retard the engine to what the handbook stated and was running ok (till it went)...

Cheers.

If you retarded the timing back to standard then that in itself would NOT have done it...timing could only really blow a HG if you have it ridiculously advanced, which would cause the same symptoms as pinging anyway because thats what pinging is, explosion of the a/f mixture well before its intended to on the comp stroke.
