Aftermarket Knock control

Just wondering which aftermarket computers have knock control or at least an input that can be configured to retard timing in relation to a signal on that input, - To use a factory knock control computer.

Not many aftermarket computers have knock control, It takes a lot of work to determine when an engine is knocking. It is much easyer for us to hear knock than a ECU to determine knock with all the mechanical noise of a engine in the background.
I have played with a few knock systems and most of them are not very good.

Thanks, my dream of making a bullet proof motor has just been shattered.

with the configurable ECU's around now, they should be able to take a given input and use that to retard spark..
just look around some of the better ECU's sites and their list of features.. if in doubt, email the companies and ask.
unless you have a factory tuned knock sensor and interpretation circuitry, it will be difficult..
what you could look to is "ion sensing", which i know some ppl are currently designing, (and afaik, has been implemented successfully somewhere).. where you basically use the spark plugs as a sensor (after the spark of course) and the conduction thru the ions present post-combustion can indicate if timing needs to be advanced or retarded...
google for it
there is a thesis or a big article abotu it on the net somewhere..

couldnt you use the exhaust temperature sensor as a form of retarding ignition timing. So that when the exhaust temperature reaches a certain temp then it could retard the ignition.

By the time anything detects a knock, it could be too late anyway. So why bother? How about just tune the engine correctly and safely then leave it alone?

agreed, but thats where the ion sensing works, as you can tell before a knock is going to happen, and then retard before it even occurs! is neat, but difficult to implement..

its much easier to tune the timing map to make it not ping no matter what happens
a std ecu has thousands of outcomes
if this does this then do that
it calculates a shitload of stuff
aftermarket ecus only have afew outcomes
this is becuase it just has to meet one outcome
performance is mainly why u go for afterm, arket
if u wanted economy u would go std
plus std ecus need to meet emissions so thats y thet have soooo many outcomes
so its much easier to just adjust the timing in the timing map and make it stop pinging
therefore the only other way to make an engine ping is overboost or overheat
plus for the knock control to work properly i woul dguess that the aftermarket ecu that does it will be way out of yr price range
when i tell people the price of a motec with most of the shit in it they freak
