Buying Car!!! Need some advice on a few issues please..... Sun, 06 February 2005 03:39 Go to next message
Hey once again everyone...
Just found another prospect car for my girl friend and i was wondering what you may consider of this situation...

1992 corolla CSI
Blue in colour
175,000kms
light green metalic colour..
Hatch
Manual
THIS COLOUR AS below but this is not the car...

Overal interior was ok... just needed a detail, seat was slightly torn but i was gonna chuck in some ae92 Levin seats if necessary Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
Engine drove very nicely, revved up quite well... Did notice some oil around the cam cover but the gaskets are easy enough to fix i just wanted to make sure it wasn't the actual cam seal... The engine bay was quite dirty...

Overal paint was quite poor, the front area from the 1/4 panels and bonnet/bumper had been resprayed due to an accident which looks like new, there was a small dent near the rear of the lights and we are considering resprayin the car from the 1/4 panels to the boot basically... Typically how much would it cost? we are even considering doin it ourselves as a mate has a compressor and we could get the paint ourselves, at least it will be 100 times better than it is already (trust me its pretty faded)...

The price at the moment is about $3800 negotiated SLIGHTLY from 4100 to get a better idea but we also have to consider rego comin up in March...

What do u think about the car?
What should we do about our issues relating to paint?????
Thanx a lot for everyones help!!!

The price could be negotiated slightly more i think, they seemed like they just wanna get rid of it.. oh its got 4 new tyres, a new windscreen, AC which is like new and overal quite a decent price...

Thanx!!!!

cheapo spray job about a grand, decent one is about 2k, if you do it yourself, shouldnt cost more than $300, plus if you need to beat any panels out, or bog anything, plus primer, plus whether you want it back to bare metal etc. etc. etc.

sounds like a decent deal to me, get him down to $3500-$3300 because of the rego, if he doesnt take it, leave it and you'll find a better deal...
