Ive always wondered why they are mounted on an angle is it to help oil drain back into the sump or something wierd? or something totally different?

Yup, also helps to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible.

the 1G-GTE has like a 10 degree lean towards the passenger side.

If you line the gearbox up so the top of the bellhousing is flat (and the extension would be correctly centered in the trans cross member) the engine has an obvious lean.

one argument is that it promotes oil draiage from the head, another is that it helps clear bonnt struts

the passenger side of head has the tall oil filler thing so it makes sense to attempt to somehow lower it.

Preparing foir Shanes flamage....
If you mount it level, then the gbox lever will be on a hell of an angle requiring mod

Perhaps its promoting better performance by utilising previously untepped gravitational forces to oull the air into the engine through the inlet runners. Razz

Flame flame flame hehehe
I couldnt really give a toss about the shifter lean. With the box on the lean it is, it allows more oil to go in Razz
