My KE70 with a 4k suddenly died on me the other day, I turned a left hand corner and it cut out I pulled up check over the engine hopped
in the car and it started, drove in a straight line turned left
again and it died, however it wouldnt run after this.
Ive replaced the rotor button, distributor cap, points and coil.
but its done nothing, turns ova no spark not even from the coil.
The balast resistor is getting really hot.
Cant seem to find it shorting out anywhere.
Anyone have any ideas? has quite a few people baffled.
Thanks Kieran

If the resistor is getting hot, there must be a short somewhere close to it.. Apart from that, I can't help much, as you've already replaced what I would've suggested.

yup, shorted wire... what about the wires from the points to the coil.. it's not shorting either inside or outside of the dizzy?
do you have 12V to the coil, and the -ve side only goes to the points?
to check if the coil is ok, take all the wires off the -ve side of coil, then attach a wire to the -ve aide of coil, touch it briefly to a ground (battery is good), when you break the connection, you will get a spark.
what you could do is to get an LED (with appropriate resistor) and connect it between power and the points. turn the motor over. if the LED flashes, then the points an it's circuit are working..
you may have a loose lead somewhere, you may have an internal failure of the coil or the condensor etc etc..
check each part one by one..
