UZS131 Crown Information

Hi guys,
These cars are popping up every so often and seem to be quite cheap.
For a run around only.
Anybody got one...anybody know what to look out for...any known problems?
They appear a bit cheaper than an LS400...uglier too for sure, but less likely to be stolen.
And no...there'll be no pimpin with this...kept stock, maybe a Grandpa hat on the parcel shelf.
Thanks,
Matt

No help for you!
Last of the real Crowns with a full chassis. They're a Crown, they're indestructible. The main issue is the airbag suspension. The airbag/shock absorber assemblies are expensive to replace. A hole in the bag is easy enough to fix, but a leaky shocker means a whole new assembly. Other than that 4 speed auto 1UZ, G series diff, IRS, heavily optioned interior, some had a tele, adjustable everything.

Cheers for the response...re the shocks, are they similar to Mk3 Supra's?
If so, then might be able to get aftermarket normal shocks for it.
Good feedback though, thanks.
Any more?

yep i forgot the air bags. Most people tend to just replace them with a coil over when something goes awry, and be generally happier.
comon, they aren't that ugly! Even with just some big dish and air suspension controller... or with a kit.

Yeah I had heard that too.
I guess it will be interesting to see what happens to prices of the cars already here...probably go up if people were smart.

my crown lands in a few days. Cant wait.
re 15 yr rule: you can still possibly get a UZS131 from J-spec or someone who has already made a financial commitment to the car, or already has their import approval for the car... but you have to be quick.
That one above is VIP style, but with totally the wrong colour. I'm settling with just the air suspension controller, exhaust and 18" VIP style deeeeeep dish wheels. Maybe one day i'll paint it black too But no turbos - at least until the '28 is done and i have money again.

Karl's right; some importers may still have a few but time to buy is now. Prestige have a 2 on their site but 3.0L only. Worth emailing them though and asking if there are any V8's in Japan ready to ship. I'm sure these guys would of bought more cars knowing the rule change was imminent.
Mine is about to land in Brissy in a few days. Hopefully it's as good as what the photos looked.
