Well, the w58 slave cylinder fits on the passenger side bellhousing.
the w50 slave cylinder fits the drivers side bellhousing.
I'm told that there's only two types of toyota bellhousing,
so,
It's gonna be one of the two.

slave cylinders for W50's are definitely on driver side, do you mean that w50's and w55's are both on drivers side and only w58's are on passenger side??????

ok im getting mixed views here
form what i can gather there are both types on all bellhousings?
my friend who i am asking for is using a custom bellhousing to suit his sigma motor and w58 gearbox but he bought a w58 slave cylinder and the piston is facing the wrong way, hence being the wrong side, and then it is identical to my celica with a w58 which is on the driver side

Are we talking about the cylinder that is next to the gear box?
if so I guess cressida supra is right, it completely depends on the type of car and bellhousing, my W50 on my 18RC has the clutch cylinder on the driver side.
I have always seen and heard that W55/8 are on passenger side. What type of engine is that w58 behind Celicamad85?
I never would have thought that Toyota would be that variable, what a learning experience.

M series W50/* bellhousings are on the passenger's side. R series ones are on the driver's side. Get one off a Crown/Supra/Corona Mk2/Cressida and you'll be right.

When I bought my W58 from sss they asked if I wanted it on the drivers or passengers side, they fucked it up anyway. I think it would've been better not asking what I wanted and just guessed, cause then there was at least a 50% chance that I'd get what I wanted!
