Bringing parts back from overseas questions

i'm planning on bringing back some TRD stuff.
I'm getting front and rear towerbars, rear brace, front(C-One) and rear swaybars and, shocks and springs.
Does anyone know the weight of each of these parts? i'm wondering if i could put them in my luggage or shall i post them.
Also, if i decide to take the shocks and springs as hand luggage, would they consider it as weapons?
this is for the ZZE123 corolla
thanx

id imagine shocks and springs would weigh a bit more than your normal carry on allowance....
what a lot of ppl forget when buying parts over seas is how to get it back.. thats why stuff is cheaper where its made... freight costs dont have to be added to the purchase price...
id psot them if they are within the size limits they will take. otherwise its freight company stuff. and they charge like a wounded bull.

the shocks would prolly come in under weight, but an argument (esp in this climate) could be made for them as weapons - 2 feet of metal tubing is a lot more dangerous than a fork, and you cant have them anymore.

thanx mookie. thats great that she works for qantas because thats the plane i took.
my carry on luggage is always way over the limit. they only check if it becomes really noticeable. ie walking in an unbalanced manner. i've also noticed they check the weight of your carry on at the check-in counter. thats why you have someone else wait with your hand luggage somewhere else

haha, I brought 23kg's of electrical goods back from HK in my hand luggage once (sports bag). It broke the shoulder strap of my bag and I had to try and walk normally holding it by the hand straps.
It worked once and I'd give it a go again
I just had 4 x struts, strut cartidges, springs and strut top bearings from an aw11 posted from the US. With a maximum weight of 40pound per package, it had to come in two packages. I think it was about 70pound (32kg) all up. I think about half the weight would have been in the struts themselves, which you won't be buying.

Rule of thumb i use for posting stuff back to Aus that I get from Japan Yahoo Auctions is AU$250 per 10kg... regardless of size and shape...
Get a surfboard cover or something similar and jam all your goodies into that and put it onto the plane... might have to pay excess luggage fee but still cheaper than postage.
If Aussie customs see you have new items that you are bringing in they may try to charge you a fee.

bummer should of brought a surfboard bag with me. i doubt i can find anything alike in HK.
one thing i've learnt from travelling over the years is get duty free stuff. put a big tick next to duty free on the declaration form and they only check that. i also have another bag full of food stuffs

the longest box is 150cm x 30cm 13kg
