bolt gze charger onto ge Mon, 28 October 2002 08:44 Go to next message
What would be required for me to bolt the gze supercharger onto my bluetop ge? it has 7rib block but no idea what internals.
I also have a microtech digi 1 so changing computers won't be needed.

What bits from the gze would I need?
Would the ge hold up under the small amounts of boost the gze charger puts out?

Its into a ae86 too.

Thanx

Freak i thought a bluetop only had a 3 rib block?? it also is spose to have a smaller crank and journals (spelling?), i think the journals are 16mm compared to 20mm in a 7 rib....i could be wrong, but that's what i thought....

the red and black 88kw one (original aw11 ge) has a 7 rib block and the bigger internals...

you would need the complete ze inlet setup, as without making new s/c mounts it will not fit under the ge inlet manifold
(it needs to mount about 2 1/2 - 3" lower to fit under a ge inlet manifold)..
the ze injectors would be a good idea...
people have turbo'd the ge, but i beleive it is not too reliable after 5psi...(going on what i have read on other forums).

cool thanx for that, didn't realise u would need all the ze inlet too.
To fit ze in the ae86 don't u need to modify the s/c mounts anyway to clear the alternator?

Im actually not sure what "colour" my ge is cos the rocker paint has been taken off, it may be the black one ur talking about. Its a bigport head, tvis inlet but has a 7rib block. Would this have the bigger internals?

Im probably just better off getting a ze hehe

Freak oh, yeah, the alternator...you would need to get it's mounts of a ze too, and mount it on the exhaust side, above the a/c compressor...
well my old ge is a 7 rib block, bigport head, t-vis. it has the bigger internals, i beleive the same as a s/c block...but, it has highter compression pistons compared to a s/c block and there not forged or coated, i think around 9.6:1 ?? cant remember on that one..(the early ze is 8.0:1, and later 8.9:1)

yes i think just getting a ze would probably be a better idea in the long run, it's built 4 boost...

yeah im not sure if my pistons would be the 100kw or the 86kw ones, it doesn't seem to rev as happily as my old ae82 but has lots more torque lower in revs and it is much quicker.

I don't have a/c Smile

all so expensive and I don't have money hehe
