wheel restoration? advice? Mon, 07 February 2005 12:42 Go to next message
I know this is stupid, but does anyone have any recomendations on places that polishes, sparkles, powder coats and repairs deep scratches for a reasonable equilibrium price?

i know it sounds like i'm after a bargain, but the wheels i bought wouldn't be so much of a bargain if i restore them at an incredibly high price! perhaps i'll do some of it myself, and leave the nearly impossible to the professionals!

and how much will i be looking at for a fair price? i tend to get jipped all the time! can some one give me a break down on a list?

thanx, all input would be greatly appreciated

Well, it's a massive pain in the arse to hand restore rims yourself. I wouldn't want to do it again!

I think the easiest way might be to get them bead blasted, then powdercoated - maybee ring around a few places?

magman at punchbowl moxon rd (or something like that)

I had a rim that had a flatspot and was cracked and guttered (stupid pot holes) and he fixed it to brand new condition for $130 i think

yeh, i've been wet sanding them all night, and oh god it's a big job!

what will i do if my wheels has been oxidised in some areas?

fattony; no, i've been trying to! i'm planning to go bunnings later on today (i got 200 dollar voucher!) and ask them for an aluminium polish?

how much will it cost to get it bead blasted on all 4 rims?
i'm either planning to paint it myself, or get it professionally! but i'm certainly trying to look for a way where i can do some parts myself, so i can save my wallet some money!

I have been told by another mob it will cost me AUD$250 to restore my MA61 rims back to their former glory... I think I better rethink what I am going to do with the rims...

Cheers.

Just restore back to what they should be... Just remove the clear coat, buff and repair the gutter damage...

It's a big job if they're in bad condition. See

I'd be pretty happy with $250- for all 4 wheels. Spraying wheels = PITA as when I've done it I've had lots of overspray due to the shape.

AUD$250 is just for 1 (one) wheel... Yep one wheel... Means AUD$1,250 (one thousand two hundred and fifty) for a set of 5 wheels. Mad

Cheers.
