fabbed intake manifolds

I'm trying to fit two solex carbs on my plain ol' 2T engine, and I'm pretty sure I need a fabricated intake manifold for it - the 2T-G manifold allegedly doesn't line up. I'm wondering what kind of cost I should be looking at for that kind of thing. I know it's possible to convert to a 2T-G, but I'm not sure which is cheaper.
I know that a 2T-G can produce more power than the OHV unit, but it's not a great deal more and I have the carbies already anyway. The standard manifold on the 2T-G is pretty short, and longer is usually better, that's why I'm looking at a fabbed one for the 2T.
Anyone got an idea how much this kind of thing will cost, (or who can do it in SA)???

Had a mate who had an adaptor plate made up to mount 2T carbs to his 2TG, so I dont see why is wouldn't work in reverse. From memory the port spacings are pretty much identical, just the bolt holes that are different.

I don't know either, but I do know fabrication work can get expensive quickly (unless you can do it yourself), while 2T-G's can be had cheaply if you look around.

Longer manifolds tend to produce better bottom-end torque, while short manifolds are good for top-end power and sharp throttle response.

the ports will line up its the bolt holes that don't - also the water thingo in the middle of the 2T will need to be welded up in your inlet manifold...
take it to someone with a tig, get "ears" welded on it where you need the new bolt holes, and, then re-tap new holes. simpler that way - also make sure you get the thing re-finished after you're done - as when they TIG it they have to heat it up and there is a good chance it will warp.

So what kind of price would I be looking at to get the 2T-G manifold modified? How strong is that sort of set up, because this engine will take a fair bit of punishment?

Oh and how large diameter are the intake manifold ports on a 2T-G manifold?

it cost me $35 to have the 2TGEU manifold modified.
i think the ports are 25mm from memory (only small)
