quick query: size of bolt attaching pulsation dampener to 5ME fuel rail Tue, 08 February 2005 04:12 Go to next message
hi folks,

can anyone advise on the size of the huge nut/bolt-head that attaches the fuel pulsation dampener on the 5ME fuel rail?

it's bigger than 21mm (largest open-ended spanner i own) and the largest i can find at a hardware store (i work in the brisbane CBD so my only choice is a mitre10) is a 22mm.

will this fit? (or have i bought yet another nearly-useless tool)

i was nearly at the point where i attack it with my stilson pipe wrench but the head on it's too fat Wink

tia,
charles.

its bound to be a 22mm as toyota only have set sizes in use. and 21mm is not one of them.

Just use an adjustable and a hammer.

the copper washers have been crushed too many times - i only had new washers for the fuel filter - hence the need for application of considerable effort.

my adjustable spanner came from supacrap so any application of torque on it makes it jam open. And i have an awful feeling that my expensive adjustable vicegrips (which would have done the job) got recycled in the post-renovation cleanup 'cause that's when i last saw them ;(

anyway, problem solved - expensive 22mm spanner 1, damper 0

the next person to open the engine up will probably want to replace it (or if they're smart - replace the engine with something like 1jz or 1uz)
