HEy all,
I was wondering how many early corolla owners have put 4age 16v and 20v's in there cars?
Also where you got mounts made up?
And anything else you recommend that would help with the conversion?
Cheers
Michael

Hey Megz,
I am a KE25 owner with a 16v 4AGTE. My brother does the engine mount fabrication using standard engine mounts on the block and modified mounts on the crossmember. Not too hard to do at all if you have access to welding and cutting equipment.
Which model are you planning to put a 4AG into?? Ke10, 15, 20, 25 ??? Ke 20/25 have a longer engine bay than KE10/15 so it makes the job easier (can be done in the 10/15 but much tighter)
4AGE into KE20/25 quite an easy and straightforward conversion, just take your time and think about what you are doing, no steps are particularly hard. The T50 behind the 4AGE will even bolt up to standard chassis rail mounting points (not the mounts that the k-series box uses though). The threads are sometimes hidden by underbody tar or tape.
If you have any specific question PM me.
Here is a link to some info on my car:

Thanks for the reply. I have a Ke25 and planning to chuck a 20v in. At the moment i am sourcing parts. My brother has engine mounts made for a 20v in a Ke20 so i am going to copy those.
ke382TG- Did you have to move the fire wall back at all? There is a bit on the fire wall for the heater core which sticks out. Me and my brother did a test with his 20v into his ke20 and we had trouble getting the engine past this rise in the firewall to sit it down on the mounts. Did you have any trouble with that?
Any other Ke10,15,20,25 enthusiasts on here?
Cheers
Michael

more detail :
- i have a 69 ke10 with a mild 4k in it
- this is my 4th ke10
- if it doesnt sell for the price i want it may receive a 4age later this year
speaking of conversions i saw a ke10 many years ago here in adelaide with a 4age in it and a big single SU carby mounted on the front of the inlet plenum facing forwards
odd, but worked - food for thought

Thanks for the reply. A few months ago there was a ke10 with a 20v for sale. It looked hot, but quite a tight fit.
Actually i am thinking of running twin carbies on a 16v. Its really just what pops up. Either 20v or 16v.
My car will be up in the Members ride soon.
Cheers

I have a KE20 as well. I have still got to get the body solid before I decide what to do mods wise. I'm in a split decision, between just leaving the stock 3k in it and getting it back on the road, rebuilding a 4k for it with a bit of compression, a cam and clean up the head, or puting in a 4age.
I'll finish of the rust work, get it back to a solid condition and make the decision then, I guess it'll be decided on how much $$$ I can find to do it.
Good luck on the mounts, I was told that the K mounts bolt onto the A motors and can then fit. Is this right? I have only heard this from one source, so that alone makes me doubt it, but if it worked it would sure be easy.

Hey mate, I found a 4age 16v 100kw so that should be going in soon. I am hoping to get it done in the middle of April. I got heaps of stuff with it so i'm pretty happy.
No that doesn't work or not to my knowledge.
Ke382TG - "I am a KE25 owner with a 16v 4AGTE. My brother does the engine mount fabrication using standard engine mounts on the block and modified mounts on the crossmember. Not too hard to do at all if you have access to welding and cutting equipment."
So you can use the stock mounts on the A series but the cross member mounts have to be fabricated. I think that's what he means by "standard engine mounts".
The 4age will be a lot more expensive compared to a worked 4k. Because there is no fabrication of 4k's mounts, box, prop shaft etc.
For the 4age to be put in you need
-Custom mounts
-Fabricated sprinter prop shaft and Tail shaft
-Put in a clutch master cylinder
-Change diff
-Brake booster
Plus a lot more upgrades eg brakes, suspernsion etc.
Also a mild 4age would be still more powerful than a fully worked 4k and the 4age would be a lot more reliable.
Cheers
Michael
