You can put any motor from the 5MGE/6MGE/7MGE/7MGTE/1GGE/1GGTE/1JZGE/1JZGTE/2JZGE /2JZGTE/1UZFE range in there.
Some may require a rack and pinion conversion.
Some may not.
All should physically fit.
Any gearbox should fit in the tunnel too.
R154 might be a squeeze, but its nothing a hammer cant fix.
All RWD 4 stud Toyotas are the same stud pattern.
If you want 5 stud, a Hilux diff, and some crown front hubs are the go.

do a bit of a search and you'll get some good info not to mention finding out who the Mk II gurus are on the forums.

Decide what it is that you want. Then ask specifics.
Let me assure you however that 5K will come nowhere near sorting out paint, interior, engine conversion, suspension and all the rest fo the stuff you want to do on your car.

I have a Mk2 of a different kind, and I can guarantee that GT has never said a truer word.

for suspension ,engine with minor mods, interior and paint, and some new brake pads/brakes/wheels/tyres $15k is a better estimate

Pffft, 15k hasn't even gotten me paint, interior, wheels or tyres (well, I got new 15" tyres, but I don't count that)
Still got rego, insurance, engineering to go aswell.

I had the advantage of starting off with a conversion-ready engine (with mounts, etc)

Had I not got bling stainless for my exhaust, chosen cheaper wheels and tyres and not gone a bit overboard on the conversion, I could've done it for $15k.

all depends on how much u can do yourself or how much u are willing to put in

Price is a bit excessive for an auto.
I'd expect to pay something around that for a good condition manual.
