Stays engaged or dis-engaged, so, for example when you depress the clutch pedal, do you still have drive, or when you release the pedal does the pedal remain at the floor, or does it return but drive doesn't?

One solution for one of those problems (staying at the floor) is a new, or modified the now broken pedal box. Had that problem with my old ST185.... twice!

Does the problem only occur from second to 3rd? only at high RPM???
If thats the case Sound like one strange problem if you ask me...
Perhaps a visit to your local clutch specialist may be the best solution.

the pdeal box. The firewall appears to flex overtime, eventually causing this.

Check it.

when you press the pedal and leave it in gear, off the accelerator it stays engaged like the pedal is not working, the line is not leakin cause i dont lose fluid and this has been happening for a while, and if the fire wall was flexin in would happin in any gear but it only happins in 3, and the clutch man said it was the slave not travelling far enough but i doubled the length and still the same problem?

yeah, i had this problem once when i gave my 185 an almighty thrashing changing from first to second....its like the clutch stayed half engaged, but when i pumped it again it worked fine and has done so ever since.

There is no damage to any of my clutch components i.e. pedal, firewall or lines. My opinion was because i had a HD clutch installed with pressure plate something may have gotten stuck? or something inside the gearbox itself, but i gave up investigating as it kinda stopped by itself...

Have you recently installed a new clutch, or is it an old one?

Mine does this a bit too.

One place I've taken my car to says its to do with how the clutch was installed. It is possible when trying to refit the gearbox to hang the gearbox shaft off the clutch plate while trying to line it up. This can bend the fingers on the clutch plate a small amount which will cause the clutch to not disengage properly.

Eitehr adjust the clutch to lessen the problem or you might have to replace it. Sad

Take the car to a good clutch/brake place thats involved in performance stuff like motorsport & let them drive it, they'll soon let you know.

Silver Ghost, the clutch is old but not that old, and what you said happened to yours is spot on but mine hasnt fixed it self, and when i had the box off last it all looked good.
